THHAAAAANNNKK YOU!!! We know you were all praying because we are now home safe and sound. We especially felt your prayers in that our 28 hours of traveling was flawless!!!! Yes, you read that right! We had a very easy trip!
The Rockstar Nurse is now bonding more with YaoYao because he was so impressed with her ability to travel! We did not even have meltdowns!!! Well, we did have a meltdown at 6am at breakfast (before we left) when she decided not eat. She's not a morning person y'all!! How sweet is that??
Anyway, we had 1 bus ride and 3 flights. Everything was ontime and we got to each destination early. We flew threw immigration in Chicago because we met another adoptive mom in Beijing. She was a single mom that was on her 4th adoption!!! Wow. So, she knew the routine and got us to bypass the loooooong immigration for foreigners!! Without her, we'd still be waiting in that line!
YaoYao had 1 or 2 small crying episodes on takeoff and landing when she had to seatbelt in. Other than that, no crying!!!! She slept on the Beijing to Chicago flight for 8 hours!!!! The beauty of it was that we were able to get 1st row seating in Economy Plus!! So, she was able to sleep on the floor. And no I did NOT drug my child :)
We got home around 11pm. We discovered that we were locked out of our house!!! Thankfully our neighbors were night owls and helped us out.
I can not tell you how beautiful my house is to me right now!! And it seems huuuugge!! Living in airplanes and hotel rooms will do that to you. If you are itching for a bigger home, go to China for 2 weeks and you will come back content!:)
We just loved showing YaoYao her new home! Her 1st home actually!!! We stayed up until 1am with her and then she finally screamed to sleep:) I am sleeping on the floor in her room and sadly she awoke again at 3am. I realized that I was fighting a lost battle so we got up. I went through my piles of mail and she looked at books and is watching tv (yes, I am entertaining her with tv...I've had 2 hours of sleep in 48 hours..okay?!)
So now at 6 am I'm going to try and get her to go down again. A couple hours of sleep would be awesome. Then I have to try to keep her awake today so that she doesn't sleep the day away! I know it will take a couple of days for her to adjust, but it is hard when you are in the middle of it.
The Rockstar Nurse is snoring away. I told him to go to sleep and locked his door. I told him to get back on schedule as quick as possible. He works again next week. Plus, there is no point in having 2 tired parents. I encouraged the same concept when I had my newborns....seriously, what is he going to do for the baby when you are nursing?
I know I will be in a dilemma when I wake up again. I kicked coffee in China!! I did not have any coffee in the morning there!! I think because I was sick the 1st couple of days and that was just not appealing. I did have tea every morning. So, now I get to decide if I want resume my morning love affair or not.
I don't know...if this chick does not sleep soon, I will be slipping into the addiction quite quickly:)

So glad you all made it home safely! GOD will keep answering those prayers. Hopefully, all of you will adjust to our time soon enough. Or after Rock Star Nurse serenades you with his snoring and gets caught up on some of his sleep he can give you a little rest. But knowing the always having to be doing something type gal that you are you are going to have that cup of joe in hand and enjoying the day with all the kiddos. My prayer for you all now is that use have time as a family to be together before being bomb-barded by everyone wanting to see your newest little princess. So that it isn't to much for her to handle that she doen't go into melt down mode. Even though I will be excited to see her at church with you all. And now let the real journey begin.

Oh I am so glad to hear you are home and she did so WELL on the plane!! I would be resuming my morning love affair with coffee... but for me it's probably more of an addiction. LOL! Congratulations on arriving home!!

welcome home! i'm sure it will be a challenge to adjust. but how wonderful to be together as a family.
Welcome home! I am so glad that you had a smooth trip back ... I wish I was your neighbor who unlocked your house so I could get my eyes on YaoYao! You will have to let me know when I get come and meet her ... Jonah has been talking about her all day too. He has told everyone that he sees about potty training in China also. I am assuming that your other kids were not home last night, so I can't wait to see their photos and videos of meeting her! Let the adventure begin!
