Flying to Guangzhou

This will be a short and sweet post. Partly because I'm exhausted after an hour long tantrum. It's naptime and apparently that was not on Miss YaoYao's schedule.

ANYWAY, tonight we fly to our final stop in China...Guangzhou. We are very excited to get there. It will be very warm. The hotel is much nicer and the general atmosphere is known to be a breath of fresh air.

Saturday morning our time, we will have the dreaded medical exam for Miss YaoYao. The kiddos hate the exam. However, it's not painful...just stuff like looking in their ears and eyes:)

She is still not any different with daddy. Today at breakfast she sat on his lap. She looooves yogurt. So she was willing to sit on his lap for that. But when that was over she was off like a bolt. It is so odd when you think about it. He's never done anything mean to her:) However, I believe it's a trust thing. I think she thinks he might take her from me. Of course, the way she looked at me during the past hour, she may just go with him:)

Some things with 3 year olds are universal:)

ps. many have asked about YaoYao's size. I'm guessing more like a 3. She can wear size 2...but it depends on the style of the size 2. If it's a large size 2..she can do that too. And for the 1st time ever, I have a child that does not adjustable waist pants!

Hooray for the GZ and the WS! 3 year olds are indeed universal. :-) Hang in there!

Ok, my one question is... How much Chinese do you know? Are you understanding each other any better?

We were told that children adopted from orphanages are not used to being around men. Their caretakers are all women. This is probably a huge reason for Yao Yao not trusting your husband. He's such a new thing to her. Trust me, before long I have a feeling they'll be the best of friends with all of this behind them. Continued hugs to you all!

How fun .. you are on the last leg of your trip! I think this is where the famous red couch picture takes place. I am so glad you are headed for warmer weather ... any feelings with taking YaoYao away from her hometown? Did you get to learn anything from her orphanage about how she came there? (I remember Angel saying that they took her to where Kaiya's birthmom had left her and gave her the outfit she was found in). I can only imagine the mix of emotions you must constantly be feeling ... we are praying for you!

As I write, you are most likely waking up from what I pray is a restful night's sleep. Warm weather always brings smiles to my face - hope it does the same to yours....luv ya chica. (If it helps make you smile, I'll bring you some homemade guac with lots of cilantro when you get home....)

Leaving my children's provinces was always hard on me. I promised that I would return one day soon and cried on both take-offs.
Guangzhou felt like a beautiful vacation for me. You will love seeing the boats on the water and all the beautiful lights at night. Be sure to walk around under the bridge behind Lucy's Place and watch the older Chinese people put on shows for each other. Walk down all the streets and venture out as much as Yao Yao will allow. It is such a magnificant city!!
BTW, a short taxi ride will take you to Papa John's Pizza. I promise, it tastes just like home AND you can see the downtown district. REALLY COOL! ALso, the people won't stare at you in GZ. They are very used to Americans with their Chinese babies!
Hugs to you,
Shanna
