We left our hotel on a bus with 7 other families at 1:30pm today. The nerves for everyone was incredible. Poor Rockstar Nurse. I thought I was going to lose him. I did not expect to see him so nervous.
That was until all pandemonium broke lose.
YaoYao saw us and freaked.
Here is the unedited version of our 1st meeting.
Actually, freaked would be a mild way of describing the situation. She screamed primal screams. We had to restrain her to hold her otherwise she would run away.
It was a horrible feeling. We knew how much her little world was crashing down around her. The Rockstar Nurse held her and stared out the window with tears in eyes. It was very, very difficult for him.
Some of the other families had adopted before and were constantly coming over to encourage us that this was a good sign...it means that she had bonded to her caretakers. If a child had a previous bond, she will be able to transfer it to another person.
Still, the screams and fits of rage went on for almost 45 minutes to an hour. We actually were prepared for it. HOwever, it does not make it any easier.
Then, I asked a translator about not knowing if she needed to go to the bathroom. So she asked YaoYao in Chinese and she shook her head yes. So, I took her to potty and that was the end of the tears.
Suddenly, the Rockstar Nurse and I were her new best friends:)
And yes, she does have some type of "boo boo" on her eye. She told me all about it in Chinese, but of course I didn't understand:)
I can not describe to you enough how amazing this little girl is. She is an absolute trip. She loves to smile and laugh. In fact, every single thing her report said has been true so far.
And smart! Holy cow! She is an absolute parrot and repeats everything! I think she now speaks more english than lil'Rocker:) And speaking of Lil'Rocker, this little girl is a brickhouse! She's quite solid!! I think she may be bigger than him!
We were not going to force a bath tonight, but she was very excited to climb in. She also was very excited to pick out pajamas and loved sitting and reading books with daddy. She already calls me mama (melt my heart).
We were VERY nervous about bedtime. However, she amazed us once again because she climbed into bed and pulled the covers over her and leaned back on the pillow and smiled:) So, now she is sleeping in bed with daddy.
We know that tomorrow could be an absolute disaster. And even if she does do well, we are far from being done the bonding process. That could take months or even years.
We are already so in love with her. I will tell you that she already has her daddy triple knotted around the heart.
I can't post all of our precious moments, but decided to share two with you. Here Miss YaoYao is mixing up some soup. She did this for almost an hour.

I am so overwhelmed when I watch her. My eyes fill with tears when I think of how God orchestrated her being brought into our lives. We are so blessed. We are nowhere done our hardships and there will be many more tears from her and us, but I can already say this incredibly long journey was sooooo worth it.
That 1st smile...a genuine smile of joy, makes it so worth it.

I let her watch the movies and see the pics with me and when I put her down she kept crying out "bebe, bebe!" She's gorgeous and we are all sooooo excited for you as you begin this arduous, rewarding, blessed journey. What a gift to know you have been chosen to bring her up in a house filled with Christ as the center....
She is crazy beautiful! And so sweet. I love the video of her and RS Nurse. How adorable. I'm glad that (other than the first 45 minutes together), YaoYao has accepted you so easily. I will pray that her little heart lets you in more and more over the next few days and weeks.

I just got all teary-eyed from this post! I can't believe how big she is! You have a long journey ahead but she already is showing such a sweet personality. Thanks for posting. I hope you are planning on taking some video of her meeting her new siblings. Hopefully, that meeting will go a little smoother.
Wow! What a great post!!! So happy for you all. What a beautiful family!!!!
She is cute cute cute in those videos!! I am so happy for both of you! Congratulations!
Oh my goodness! How completely wonderful and blessed you are!!! She is doing GREAT! I know those first few days can be TOUGH, but don't despair. We have adopted twice from China, I clearly remember my emotions being ALL OVER THE PLACE. It takes time to become a family and getting to know your beautiful (AND I MEAN BEAUTIFUL) little girl will be draining. Each day will get a little easier.
When we adopted our Chloe, she couldn't have been a more perfect baby, but still I had a hard time keeping my emotions in tact.
Enjoy your time in China and try to take it all in!
Big hugs to you and your precious new girl!
Shanna
